So much going on

So it has been a while since I have updated this blog. Since my last update lots has happened and there have been lots of things that have kept me busy. I have been busy with school, making my costume, volunteering, VEDO, and other stuff. I will give an update in each section.

School

I dropped my Japanese class. I was getting majorly stressed and overwhelmed by the class. I don't know how people can learn Japanese. I am fine with the oral part, but the written part is really hard for me. We are reading a new book in my religion class, and so far I like it better than the other. It might be one I actually read. Midterms are next week, but I don't have a midterm just a couple regular tests. First time I haven't had a midterm. After midterms I will get the paper giving me the PIN so that I can register for classes in November. I got accepted to the Universtiy of Idaho, I am still waiting to hear back from Eastern Washington University. My friends are starting to make it difficult for me to leave. Thankfully I will still be able to see them.

Costume

I got most of the shield done for my Link costume, just need to add the eagle. Most of the shirt is done being sewed. I still have to add the collar to the shirt. Then, I have to make the sword, boots, and gloves. Hopefully it will be all done for Halloween. I also am going to be making a Hufflepuff outfit for the Harry Potter movie premier, which can double as a Halloween costume as well. I am buying most of the stuff, but I am making the scarf and the robe. I didn't want to pay over $100 for a rob and almost $20 for a scarf. I would make the hat, but I haven't knitted a hat yet. I will make one after I learn how to knit a hat. Below are pictures of my Link shirt.

Volunteering

I volunteer usually once a week at Free Rein Therapeutic Riding. This place lets children and adults with different disabilities ride horses as part of therapy. I started this last year when two of my classes required Service Learning. I loved it so much that I have continued to do it. I started out as a Sidewalker, and now I lead the horses. I really enjoy getting off campus and doing this. It is part of what kept me sane and away from complete depression last year. I am hoping that I will get into Eastern Washington University so that I can continue volunteering here. They are 4 sessions held throughout the year. There is a fall session of 8 weeks, winter session of 6 weeks (I think), spring session of 8 weeks, and a summer session of 8 weeks. Right now we are in the middle of the fall session, and it will be over at the end of the month. One of my closest friends is an instructor at Free Rein.

VEDO

You may be wondering what VEDO is. VEDO stands for Video Every Day in October. I am attempting to do VEDO this year, which is a large part of why I have not updated my blog in awhile. I have missed one day of VEDO, but so far I am enjoying it. I am not doing any edits in my videos as I just don't have time to do edits, school, costume making, and volunteering. I don't get a lot of views, but it is a nice way to express how I am doing and what is new besides just text like here in my blog. If you want to view my videos go to www.youtube.com/user/amanakastegman

Other Stuff

I obviously finished my applications for University of Idaho and Eastern Washington University. Now comes the joy of filling out applications for scholarships. Although, I don't know how many I will get because of my grades here at Gonzaga thanks to lovely Inorganic Chemistry. The other thing I want to talk about is a sad for me. A great lady who has been a great family friend ever since I was really little died today. She has fought stage 4 ovarian cancer for a little over 2.5 years. She died this morning at 11:15 MST. My aunts had been staying with her to keep her company. She woke up and told my aunt "I hope that today is better than yesterday." She got up and immediately collapsed on the bed and died. I knew that she would be dying soon, I just didn't expect her die this way. I am glad that she didn't suffer for a long time like my grandma and great-grandma. I am glad that she is in a better place now without pain. Still nonetheless it is still hard and a bit sad. I wish that I could have spent more time with her when I was in Colorado, but there is nothing that I can do to change that.

I hope that you guys are doing well, and I will try to update my blog again next week.

Hiking!

I didn't get much done this past weekend. I met my family in Spokane Valley so that I could get my Snow Leopard installation disk. I had to completely wipe my hard drive and reinstall my OS, make a new partition for windows, and reinstall windows. I didn't do much homework because I don't really have anything do. I was supposed to have a test on Thursday but that got moved to who knows when. I have another Japanese quiz sometime this week and a Japanese test on Friday. Sunday I had club summit. Which is where club officers go to a meeting to learn about club stuff. Today, my Japanese class got canceled cause the teacher wasn't feeling well. I got my paper work signed to switch majors and such. I went hiking with my friend Landy today. We went out kind of close to where I volunteer. It wasn't much of hike, more so a walking path. Tomorrow I have a financial meeting with Tiffany and other clubs. Wednesday I volunteer, and possibly have a Diversity clubs meeting. I am going home for a little bit this weekend. Tell my grandma goodbye since she is moving back to Colorado next week. That's about all that is happening with me.

Mmm Tea

Today I couldn't sleep. I think partially cause I was nervous for club fair day. I only got 4 hours of sleep. We got close to 50 people to join our club today! I signed up for Club Volleyball. We will see if I will make the team. I started my volunteer work up again today. I have volunteered 85 hours in one year. I got the horse ready, but my rider never came so I got to leave early. I have my first test and quiz tomorrow. That's about all for tonight as I am tired.

Konbanwa

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been a while since my last blog. I have had homework in every single subject for the past week. Of course I am trying to be a good student this year, and read the textbooks like you are supposed to. I have yet to read my microeconomics book though, I have been busy with all the other classes, and we are going over easy stuff right now. For the most pat I like my classes. I still do not care for my religion class, and now I don't really care for my philosophy class just because of the teacher. I am glad that I have a friend in my religion class. I have my first quiz and test on Thursday. Being Japanese Club President is already becoming stressful. Tomorrow is club fair day, I am hoping we get quite a few members, right now we are on the verge of not being a club because of how few members we have. I start my volunteer program again tomorrow. This time I am leading a horse for one class, and sidewalking for another class. Should be interesting as I have never put the halter on before. I am very thankful for my handful of very close friends, especially Josh who is always there for me when I need someone. I don't know if I could survive my last year at Gonzaga without him. Yes, I said my last year. No, I am not graduating. I have realized that Gonzaga is too expensive. I am going to be transferring to a public university next year. I got super stressed out thinking about all of my loans I have accumulated after two years at Gonzaga. I am going to miss my friends here, but I will still be able to visit them. Well that is about all for now, I need to get back to my Japanese homework. Best wishes! DFTBA!

Also lately I have been listening to "In My Arms" by Plumb alot. Here is a video that is pretty decent. Enjoy!

A new start to a new school year

Hello! This week I started my second year at Gonzaga University. I am starting out as a Business major, not quite sure what major in the School of Business yet. It has only been two days, but so far I am liking most of my classes. This year I thought I would try to keep my blog updated, as doing vlogs became too difficult to do with school. I am hoping to update daily when I am on campus, but that may not always happen. This semester I am taking Principles of Accounting 1, Microeconomics, Business Computing, The Triune God in Evolution, Philosophy of Human Nature, and Elementary Japanese 1. The only class I am not really enjoying is The Triune God in Evolution, it is a discussion based class which I am not very fond of that type of class. I am looking forward to the semester of my business classes. I am hoping that this is my last major change because I do not know of any other thing that I would want to study in college. I hope that this little blog update finds all of you doing well. Best Wishes! DFTBA!

BLargh

So, I have been back at school for a week. I am taking 18 credits this semester. I am doing Organic Chemistry 1 (CHEM 230), Organic Chemistry Lab 1 (CHEM 230L), Calculus 1 (MATH 157), Critical Thinking (PHIL 101), Teaching in the Middle School (EDTE 241), Differentiated Instruction and Assessment (EDTE 221S), and Field Experience (EDTE 221L). After this semester I will be officially admitted to the school of education. This semester is also going to decide if I will stay a Chemistry major or switch to History or Mathematics. Last semester I barely passed Inorganic Chemistry. I passed by like 0.5% lol, but with my final grade I think I should have failed so I think my teacher raised my grade. Starting February I will be volunteering again. I still work as a volleyball official for the adult volleyball league in the county.
Christmas break was really good. I was able to go home for a little over 3 weeks. I got to spend a lot of time with our puppy. I didn't do as much as I hoped, but it was nice to be home and not worry about homework. We didn't get our pool table set back up like we were hoping, but I was able to play video games a lot with my dad and sister. I think that with me being away for school, my relationship with my sister is better. We don't find as much, and we don't get on each other's nerves like we used to.
Right before finals, one of my ex-boyfriends asked if I wanted to go out with him again. It took me a couple days to decide, but I said yes. We have been back together for a month and half. It has been difficult with it being a long distance relationship and all, but I am very happy with him. He is going to try his best to fly out to Spokane for Valentine's Day to see me. It is so neat dating somebody that has the same exact birthday as you.
Back in November, I went to Walmart to pick my mom up from work after I got off of work. I had to wait for like half an hour so I browsed the crafts and books. I decided to start reading a book while I was waiting for her. So, I picked up Twilight and loved what I had read. I didn't buy hoping that I would get it for Christmas, which I didn't, but I was able to buy it with Christmas money. It is such a good book, I didn't think I would ever like the Twilight series, but I really do. I am waiting to buy the others until I finish reading the book to determine if I like the whole book.
Thats about all for now. I hope that you all had a good Christmas and New Years!
